Additional info: The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa category in the United States that allows foreign workers to temporarily find employment in the US, especially in technical occupations. In fields like information technology, engineering, mathematics, science, and other related professions, foreign workers are typically hired for three to four years.

If you are planning to work in the US, you need to take a look at these changes in the H-1B visa provisions that were recently proposed by the US government.

Here is a quick summary

No more multiple entries in the lottery

There is a proposed regulation to change the H1B program so that each foreign national would receive no more than a single entry in the lottery. Under the new changes proposed by the government, an employee will only be registered once. Any attempts to find an alternative route to this may even lead to visa denial or revocations.

H1B for Remote Jobs too

If the job offer is genuine, employees can work from remote locations within the United States. This has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security.

Auto cap-gap extension till next year April

Good for Grad students.

No need to prove Employer-Employee relation for H1B

Meaning H1B holder can now build their startup under their own ownership.

Job Role and Person Educational Degree should match

This is not good for non IT people, because I know many Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineers who are doing great in software industry. But this will make it hard to go for H1B with their Degree.

Cap exempt

This means that the employees will have more freedom to choose their place of employment, instead of being forced to choose from the lottery system. This is good news for employers as well, as now they will no longer have their employees participate in the lottery.
